For so long, I struggled to understand what it meant to simply be. To just exist without the need to perform, prove, or strive for acceptance. My worth felt tied to what I did—how well I did it, how others responded, and whether I measured up to the ever-moving standard I had set for myself. Even before a holy God, I performed
I approached Him not as a daughter but as a worker. I believed that if I could just get it “right”—if I prayed enough, served enough, obeyed enough—then I would be enough. Then I could receive what I needed.
But that mindset was exhausting. Deep down, I didn’t realize that Jesus already came and settled it all. He fulfilled every requirement I could never meet. He didn’t come so I could keep striving. He came so I could rest.
Jesus is my righteousness. He is the one who makes me enough—not my works, not my performance, not my perfection. Knowing that has transformed how I live and how I see myself.
I can breathe now. I can rest. I can find value not in doing, but in being—being who God created me to be. Loved. Chosen. Redeemed. Enough.
Maybe you’re like I was—tired from the weight of trying to earn something that’s already yours in Christ. My prayer is that you, too, would come to find peace in the simple, profound truth that you are valuable just as you are. Not because of what you do, but because of who you are—and whose you are.
There’s freedom in just being. And in that freedom, there is deep, unshakable value.
As I began to grasp this truth, the chains of performance began to fall away. I realized that being worthy didn’t hinge on accolades or recognition, but on an unchanging love that permeates the very fabric of my existence. Each moment became an opportunity to embrace who I am, free from the burden of striving.
It was in the quiet whispers of God’s love that I discovered my identity. I learned to approach Him not just with requests or burdens, but with gratitude for the unearned grace that fills my life. Each interaction became richer, as I understood that His desire is connection, not obligation.
I learned to celebrate every little victory, not because they added to my worth, but because they reflected the love and grace I had already received.
Now, I strive to extend that same grace to others, encouraging them to shed their burdens and embrace their true selves. Together, we can redefine success—not as a series of accomplishments, but as our shared journey of being known and loved.
As we discover and affirm our identities in Christ, we create space for others to do the same. Imagine a world where we celebrate one another for simply existing, where our worth is measured by our inherent value as children of God, rather than by what we produce.
In this newfound freedom, we can cultivate relationships rooted in authenticity, vulnerability, and acceptance. We can cheer each other on, not from a place of competition but from a shared understanding of grace.
Let’s embrace this journey together and revel in the beautiful reality of who we are and the freedom we find in simply being.
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
—2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)
