A Heavy Start
Last Monday, I sat down to work on my book. It was one of those quiet moments where you know you’re supposed to be doing something—but it just feels too big, too much.
By Tuesday night, I found myself praying:
“Lord, send help. I need help to finish this book.”
A Divine Appointment
And wouldn’t you know it? By Wednesday, I was on the phone with a friend who said,
“Your name came up while I was thinking about something else.”
I knew that wasn’t just a coincidence—God had brought my name to her heart. It was His way of answering the prayer I had just whispered the night before.
That conversation changed everything. She encouraged me, challenged me, and even pushed me to include a section I had been considering leaving out—on discipleship. I wasn’t sure how it would fit into the book, but her words stirred something in me. She lovingly admonished me:
“Don’t leave out anything God inspired you to write.”
The Power of Obedience
What’s more, I had recently purchased her book titled The Obedient Author. I hadn’t even started reading it yet, but the title alone began speaking to me. As I continued writing—adding and removing chapters—those three words stayed with me:
The Obedient Author.
It became a phrase that forced me to ask the hard questions:
Am I being obedient in this writing process? Am I surrendering my ideas to what God actually wants to say?
Even without reading a single page, God used her obedience—and her book—to inspire mine.
Breakthrough After 16 Years
By Friday, July 4th, my book was submitted for review.
By Saturday, it was published.
I was honestly at a loss for words. The process had happened so quickly. Yes, there were some late nights—but this was a book I had been trying to write for over 16 years. I had even published my first book years ago in an attempt to get this message out. But looking back, that first book was more therapeutic for me than it was a tool to help others process grief.
This time was different.
It Wasn’t Just Speed—It Was Partnership
It wasn’t just the speed of the process—it was the power of partnership. It was the strength of community. It was someone hearing from God, walking in obedience, and showing up with the right words at the right time to help me complete what I started.
There’s something incredibly powerful about walking alongside others. Sometimes, we carry dreams for years—never birthing them—because we’re overwhelmed, discouraged, or just too tired to keep going. Without the right people around us, those dreams can die with us.
But with the right people? They breathe life into what we thought was too far gone.
God Sends People
God really does send people.
He connects us with those who speak life, lift our arms, and remind us that nothing is impossible for those who believe.
Belief isn’t always a solo journey. Sometimes, it looks like linking arms with someone who helps you see clearly again.
You Were Never Meant to Do It Alone
So I want to encourage you:
Surround yourself with people who build.
Build community.
Cultivate partnerships where you can sow and plant, but also reap and celebrate.
Together, we do more.
Together, we shine brighter.
Together, we push out what’s been sitting inside us for too long.
You don’t have to do it alone.
And you were never meant to.
📖 If this spoke to your heart, I want to invite you to go a little deeper.
